Royal Ascot is held every June and is one of the main dates on the sporting calendar and social season.

The wife appears to be asleep and has taken the prrecution against splinters from the pier's planks by spreading a tiny towell to rest her feet upon. She has dyed hair and large sun glasses and her bony legs are tanned and veined from much exposure to the sun. The husband is also fully-clothed with a loud checked jacket, black shoes and socks and he sits crossed-legged with a peaked cap and dark glasses with his hands across his belly. They are in a peaceful spot on this pier, a Victorian seaside structure built in 1899 for those taking the air to walk out onto the sea without getting their feet wet.

They are Mr and Mrs Johnson and he is a Flag officer junior rating serving in Britain's Royal Navy. His wife adjusts his Navy cap (denoting his ship's name) to make sure it's straightened and presentable for Her Majesty. It is a proud day for her husband and his spouse, when the achievements of his military career are recognized by his Sovereign. The Queens' garden parties are held ever summer, allowing ordinary men and women from diverse members of society the chance to walk the Palace grounds and meet others from all walks of life. Some may be from the armed services and others , merely known for their charitable work or individual merit.

Many family members and friends have been killed . " We had a good life," he says adding "we would go back if security was guaranteed .."

We are looking down from a balcony high above and the husband and wife are pausing during their dance routine, stopping just long enough to register as sharp figures in the picture. The light is orange and red because of the tungsten light source. The Ballroom is the traditional home of the mighty Wurlitzer Organ and complemented by the 3 Deck Wersi - the world's most advanced organ. The Wersi is a state-of-the-art Louvre organ which is played by the resident organists in this magnificent setting. The present interior of the Blackpool Tower circus  was created by the famous theatre designer, Frank Matcham and completed in 1900.

On the open road, the caravan is as ridiculed and despised for its slowness and the width it occupies on narrow country lanes.

He is the 685th in the City of London's ancient history. The new Mayor's procession consists of a 3-mile, 150-float parade of commercial and military organisations going back to medieval times. This is the oldest and longest civic procession in the world that has survived the Plague and the Blitz, today one of the best-loved pageants. Henry Fitz-Ailwyn was the first Lord Mayor (1189-1212) and ever since, eminent city fathers (and one woman) have taken the role of the sovereign's representative in the City - London's ancient, self-governing financial district. The role ensured the King had an ally within the prosperous enclave.
