  • The Mr Chelsea Body Beautiful talent competition is held on the Kings Road in London. Entrants are handsome males and girls showing their muscles and well-trimmed bodies. We see hairy chests, pectorals and biceps on-show by these young exhibitionists who parade themselves in the open-air. Slightly behind them there are also two elderly ladies looking like sisters or perhaps twins. They were once beautiful themselves and sit eagerly on a bench against a wall peering at the handsome young men, wishing they were young again. One holds a walking stick and the other grasps a bottle of wine. It is a scene of young and old, of youth and ageing beauty.

  • Two female tourists walk beneath the perfect nude male example of Michelangelo's David statue in Piazza della Signoria. It is said that the statue's genitals were created smaller to imply that David was not allowing himself to make decisions with pleasure in mind. "David" is a masterpiece of Renaissance sculpture created between 1501 and 1504, by the Italian artist Michelangelo. It is a 5.17 metre (17 feet) marble statue of a standing male nude. The statue represents the Biblical hero David, a favoured subject in the art of Florence but soon came to symbolise the defence of civil liberties in the Florentine Republic, an independent city-state threatened on all sides by more powerful rival states and by the Medici family.

  • A large, manly woman sips a pint of lager during a darts tournament where she competes in an England Open tournament at the Bunn Leisure Holiday Park in Selsey, near Chichester on the south coast of England. Holding three darts with a Union Jack flags on the 'flights', her glass covers her face but we see her rings and bracelet and her ample belly after a life of beer and cigarettes in pubs like this. A great deal of alcohol (mostly lager, but also Coke) is consumed during darts tournaments although smoking in public places has now been banned in the UK, including pubs and bars. This audience seemed to consist largely of very large lesbian women from working families which seems to suggest that the pub (and alcohol) is still the place where women are attracted to the game of darts. ..

  • A few miles from the finish line, this long-distance runner has stopped in agony to lean against the walls beneath Tower Bridge during th London Marathon, England. Pushing against the solid wall and stretching his cramped leg muscles, he grimaces in pain as other runners speed past on their way completing their personal race. Pushed to his limits, this man needs to continue a few more Kilometres to claim his medal and to claim victory. But he still has to overcome the pain of an overworked body. When glycogen runs low, the body must then burn stored fat for energy, which does not burn as readily. When this happens, the runner will experience dramatic fatigue. This is called "hitting the wall".

  • A small group of men are together on the beach just opposite to Ocean Drive on Miami Beach. Two of them are in the foreground and each wear sun glasses, each holding cigars that may be Cuban in origin, a popular source of tobacco leaf in this region of America. They have recently been immersed in the sea and water drips down their rather flabby bodies with the gentleman on the left sucking on his cigar with a belly that expands around his tanned midriff. It is intensely bright, sunny day on the sand, seen behind. Flash has emphasized the water drips and the male sweat and we also see a very clear blue tropical sky.

  • An athletic man poses against a wall on Ocean Drive in Miami Beach, Florida. This fine specimen of a man wears roller-blades and trousers tucked into his skates with a yellow t-shirt with the word Frequency across his pectoral muscles. His shdow appears across the wall and because of the angle, his shape has been greatly exaggerated, his body becoming a much wider, stockier proportion than the reality. He stands with an arm resting high on the wall and the other on his hip, almost in a feminine manner. He is nonetheless the epitome of maleness, of virility with the healthy physique that women adore and other men are jealous of! The sdidewalk pavement arcs around a corner and the wall with its long shadow is a strong diagonal line across the picture, disappearing to the far right.

Kenneth Clarke MP, the then-Chancellor in John Major's Conservative government of 1994, these city and financial dignitaries have feasted well in the old Guildhall, the City of London's town hall - the Guildhall - in the historic financial district of the capital. Wearing formal banquet attire, these chiefs of industry appear to be an all-male audience though there were also women sat at tables during the Banker's Dinner held every in June when the Chancellor of the Exchequer delivers a speech known as the Mansion House Speech hosted by the Lord Mayor, which takes its name from his official residence nearby. They concentrate on the speech to hear the Chancellor's predictions for growth and prosperity.

  • Window display figure of a traditional Chinese herbalist's shop in London's West End. The shadows of known cures such as anxiety, depression and hay fever are reflected on the body of this male miniature. One of Chinese herbology's four natures is the degree of yin and yang, namely cold (extreme yin), cool, warm and hot (extreme yang). The patient's internal balance of yin and yang is taken into account when the herbs are selected. Medicinal herbs of "hot", yang nature are used when the person is thought to be suffering from internal cold that requires to be purged, or when the patient is believed to have a general cold constituency. Sometimes an ingredient is added to offset the extreme effect of one herb.
