  • Female vet, Diana Stapleton is ecstatically happy after successfully delivering twin calves to Fresian cow at Manor House Farm, Barnoldswick near Settle, North Yorkshire, England. With the two youngsters spread on the soft straw of the barn, and their mother facing the corner of the outhouse with the resulting afterbirth still attached, Diana makes her sense of achievement clear to the farmer who must also be relived about the positive outcome. The survival of twin cattle births depends on thorough training and an instinct for animal husbandry and medical requirements. Diana Stapleton belonged to the Dalehead Veterinary Group based in nearby Settle for 15 years, covering a 20-mile area of 500 remote farms though she specialised in small animals and farmwork before dying suddenly at the age of 39.

  • Looking down from a person's height, we see two Pitbull dogs standing quietly on a south London street pavement. The two animals seem docile but are attached to leads held by an unknown owner. AT the dogs' feet in a stencilled sign that Lambeth, the local council has left at many locations of its streets where dog owners neglect to collect their pets' mess. Their idea was to paint the words "Bag it. Bin it" to help educate this unhygienic practice. Britain's Dangerous Dogs Act bans the breeding and sale or exchange of four kinds of dog - pit bull terriers, Japanese Tosas, the Dogo Argentinos, and the Fila Brasileiros. Under the act, a dog classed as being "dangerously out of control in a public place" can be destroyed. The owner can be fined and imprisoned for up to six months. If a dog injures someone, the owner can be jailed for up to two years.

  • A lady and her pet green Iguanas stop walking along the surf in Miami Beach's coast for a moment to stand on the sand and kiss on the lips. Away from its proper habitat, this reptile looks comfortable in the hands of its affectionate mothering owner and in this warm climate. These exotic lizards' live in tropical rainforests, in lower altitudes near water sources, such as rivers or streams. They spend most of their time high in the forest canopy, about 40-50 feet above the ground. Iguanas are diurnal, awake during the day. They are also cold-blooded, so they do not produce their own body heat, so need warm temperatures to thrive. Many people in the United States and elsewhere want a green iguana for a pet, so there is a big demand for their capture.

  • Sheep up for auction at the ancient annual Priddy Sheep Fair in Somerset, England. An official auctioneer (right) and a stockwoman climb over the fences as the sale commences in this picturesque village in the Mendip Hills. Unauthorised visitors are forbidden to enter the catle pens, avoiding the spread of epidemics like Foot and Mouth. According to tradition, Priddy Sheep Fair moved from Wells in 1348 because of the Black Death, although evidence has been found of a Fair being held at Priddy before that. There is a local legend, which says that as long as the hurdle stack shelter remains in the village, so will the Fair.
