The 'Levada dos Pionais' makes its way through a rural landscape, on 22nd April 2024, in Funchal, Madeira, Portugal. 'Levadas' are waterway aquaduct irrigation systems unique to the Portuguese island of Madeira, stretching from town to town, delivering a highly-efficient irrigation supply to remote and urban communities, some created in the 16th century, the Levada Pionais dates from 1953.
