The changing urban landscape during the ongoing clearance of the site of the former Elephant & Castle shopping centre which is being demolished and redeveloped in south London, on 13th September 2021, in London, England. The much-criticised architecture of the Elephant & Castle Shopping Centre was opened in 1965, built on the bomb damaged site of the former Elephant & Castle Estate, originally constructed in 1898. The centre was home to restaurants, clothing retailers, fast food businesses and clubs where south Londoners socialised and met lifelong partners
